[Global Research Trends] 4. Top 10 Publications & Authors on All-Solid-State Battery (2010-2024) with a Summarized Study

/ Scinapse Trends Series #4

‘Scinapse Trends’ will be updated bi-weekly on Fridays with research trends to make the researcher's journey easier.

This Scinapse Trends article explores the field of All-Solid-State Batteries, a core technology that will lead the future of battery innovations. All-Solid-State Batteries (ASSBs), which use solid electrolytes instead of liquid ones, offering higher energy density and enhanced safety compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

These batteries are particularly important for applications in electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems (ESS), small electronic devices, and also for wearable technology. By examining the research landscape of ASSBs, whose field is evaluated as superior to the existing lithium-ion battery in terms of safety, energy density, life span, and thermal stability, the article aims to identify ongoing studies, influential research, and key researchers in the field. This analysis will help in understanding important research trends, selecting competitive research themes, and finding potential collaboration partners.

Top 10 Countries for All Solid State Battery Ranked by First Year Ciations

Note : The data of 2024 could be partially reflected.

Based on the number of publications, China ranks first with 3,060 publications, approximately 3.1 times higher than the second-ranked United States, indicating the best quantitative research output globally. The United States and Japan follow in second and third place with 975 and 603 publications, respectively. Notably, the publication volume in China is almost 30 times greater than in Australia, which ranks 10th.

Meanwhile, in terms of qualitative research, Australia recorded the highest average first-year citations with 8.56. Excluding countries with fewer than 100 publications over 14 years, Canada, with 182 publications, has an average of 7.28 citations, while Germany and the United States have 6.35 and 5.35 citations, respectively, indicating strong qualitative research outcomes.

The United States and Germany have performed well in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
